Thanking ALL the people at UCHealth
I know that all the multitude of people at UCHealth who have supported me will in all likelihood not read this but I need to acknowledge and thank them because they have made this not so great diagnosis better. I never realized just how many people it takes to care for one person. I don’t know most of the peoples’ names but I remember them all for what they have done.
So thank you:
I cannot remember all the nurses names I have had while in hospitals, just a few - Maggie, Delanie, Kelly, Kacey - all really stand out. You people are amazing and do so much, I am blown away by all of you - so much caring, empathy and knowledge. You patted my back and stayed with me while I threw up. You held my hand in the dark night when I was alone, scared and crying. You cleaned up after me, you listened, you laughed with me, you are wonders of the world.
CAs are also crazy amazing - Abbie and Akemi - you made a difference. Thanks for making me comfortable and waking me up every so often for vitals (not really). You have a tough job and you all do it so well.
The transport people who drive patients around in the hospital, the food service people, and the cleaning people - you do so much and get so little recognition but you make patients' lives better too. Thank you.
The Chemo infusion nurses - you made a 7 hour treatment okay and seemed to always know just what to do to make me more comfortable. You have a tough job putting poison in people and seeing the results of each new infusion - hair loss, weight loss.
The women who access my port, and draw blood prior to chemo or meeting with doctors - you are so good at what you do and Susan you are so funny, I love your jokes! All those draws never hurt because you are all so good at your job.
Radiation therapists are amazing - as specially team T2 - you are all real life Sarah Connors - terminating cancer. You make my mornings bright and make radiation not scary.
IR team, keeping my nephrostomy tubes up and running has been a busy job and you do it well - loved talking about tattoos and biking with you.
Thank you Adrienne, you are an amazing social worker. I don't know how I would have dealt with all the emotions and stress with out our visits. You listen, find me resources and are just generally awesome.
And most importantly - Dr. Alldredge my oncologist – you are so empathetic and kind, so knowledgeable you are just straight up amazing. Just having you pop in when I was in the hospital made me feel better, even before you said anything. I think this whole thing would have been different if you had not been the chief of it all. I am so grateful that I got sent to you! My radiologist Dr. Fisher is a science loving rock star who also is so smart, caring and empathetic - plotting the radiation so that it does exactly what you want is astounding to me. You are remarkable
I am sure there are others I am forgetting - MRI, ct scan, ultrasound techs, the list goes on. Thank you all too.
Next up - thanking all the humans who have supported me outside of the medical field.
