Today I just want to share a few random science sites, books, podcasts, and places to get cool science stuff. I love all things science so I am always on the look out for new places to learn science from. So here is my random list.
Podcasts first:
The Weirdest Thing I Learned This Week is a fantastic podcast by Popular Science. They choose 3 weird facts they learned during the week while doing research and do a sort of pitch to determine which is the weirdest, super entertaining.
The Skeptics Guide to the Universe, this long running podcast is always amazing. The hosts discuss current science and tech news, discuss logical fallacies and debunk junk science. I have been listening to this podcast for over 10 years and I look forward to every episode. It has made me a more critical thinker.
Recently read books related in some way to science:
Wicked Bugs: The Louse That Conquered Napoleon's Army and Other Diabolical Insects - a wonderfully squirm worthy book about bugs through history. It has great drawings too.
The Royal Art of Poison: Filthy Palaces, Fatal Cosmetics, Deadly Medicine, and Murder Most Foul - I learned that I could not be happier that I live now. Medical help that involves mercury and arsenic does not sound fun.
The Disappearing Spoon: And Other True Tales of Madness, Love, and the History of the World from the Periodic Table of the Elements - this one is special. It is like a biography of the periodic table, weird and wonderful scientists and elements make this great fun to read.
(I just noticed I seem to like books with overly long titles)
And one more favorite science thing today:
Cool science t-shirts are all over the web, but this site has some awesome ones.
Look for a part two of science-y goodness with great websites, more books, and favorite youtube videos.
